Using photogrammetry for 3D modeling objects is a fairly new technology. A relatively cheap program and any kind of camera are all the basic tools needed to make your own 3D models.
The 87 photos for this model were taken with a simple point-and-shoot camera.
However, this technology does have its limitations. Certain kinds of objects do not model well (or with difficulty), blurry photos or bad lighting can ruin a model, and while the initial learning curve for some programs are gentle, it gets steep very quickly. The guides and external links under this category will help with these challenges.
